ToDate

ToDate is a couple centered activity and date planning app. The goal is to provide interesting, new date ideas to preexisting couples and create one central hub where partners can find dates, send invites, plan itineraries, and keep track of important information such as venue preferences and love languages.

In designing this app, I felt strongly about the personalization to each user and their partner. With an emphasis on curated dates, it was important that the visual design communicate this effectively to reinforce the importance of the individual and the unique pair. From the first taps I wanted users to feel as though their choices have an effect, so I decided to have one of the initial tasks be choosing a color to represent themselves, which was immediately applied to the current screen and all future screens. Not only did I want this to work for the individuals but for the couples as well, so I spent the time exploring possible color combinations and finding ways for them to meld seamlessly.

To further connect the pair, the shared profile pages are structured so that their common information blend into a single color, while their personal preferences are to the left and right, allowing for an easy overview of the people as well as their memories and experiences together. The use of color here also forms two overlapping hearts, reinforcing the concept while providing clean, simple visual interest on each screen.

A demonstration of the onboarding and shared profile that I spearheaded.

ToDate was made in collaboration with Alejandro Marques, Sam Rivero, Amanda Saladino, and Sydney Shine.
