Patches
Still new to the world, Patches stopped to examine a rotted jack o’ lantern, concerned that it could’ve been his fate, or maybe a friend in another life. Despite fretting over the pumpkin, he leaves a scarecrow in the background unobserved, seemingly unaware that such a gruesome fate as being crucified is even a possibility. Fears of what lie beyond death haunt him, despite the fact that he has so much life left to live.

A Chase in the Woods
On Patches’ next adventure, he finds a cat to befriend. However, the cat isn’t interested, and leads him on a chase into a dark forest. Again, Patches is unaware of his surroundings and fails to notice the danger he’s in as a much larger friend lurks just beyond the trees. Much of Patches’ naiveté can be attributed to his age, but it doesn’t discount the danger he puts himself in.
